A hair continues to grow for a few years, then goes into an "<em>resting" phase</em> before it falls out at the end of several months.  Then a new cycle begins.  Approximately the turnover rate is 50 to 100 hairs per day.</div><div align="justify" style="color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">This will vary according to the person, but should be at an average of six inches per year. This will then produce a new hair that will push through the open follicles in the scalp. Usually, this type of hair will stay active for two to six years.
